and a businessman who suffers disabling pain
due to CRPS/RSD; a young boy who was
sexually assaulted; several victims of motor
vehicle collision; individuals bitten by dogs and
other animals; a man who entered the
hospital for routine surgery and was given the
wrong medication resulting in his death; and a
man that whose doctor failed to report and
timely diagnose prostate cancer.
The firm has successfully represented many
persons catastrophically injured by automobile
defects, including a boy who sustained a
disabling brain injuries as a result of a front
passenger airbag, which deployed in a
low-speed collision and struck him in the face;
a 6-year old boy who was the front seat
passenger in a Dodge minivan that was
involved in a low-speed frontal collision. The
passenger air bag deployed and struck him in the face and neck, rendering him a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic; a 7-year old boy who was restrained in the back seat of a Ford Escort by a lap-only belt which was involved in a low-to-moderate speed collision. The boy sustained injuries, which rendered him a quadriplegic; the widow of a police officer killed in the line of duty when he was thrown from his police cruiser during a side-impact collision.
This firm has also successfully represented many Plaintiffs injured by the negligence of another, including; a retired police officer who was operating his vehicle when a two-axle bus ran a red light and stop sign causing a double-impact collision; a woman who was operating a bicycle on a paved shoulder of a busy roadway, when she approached a lumbar yard where work vehicle and equipment cross the road to get to the main store location, Plaintiff noticed a fork lift sitting stationary waiting to cross the road, but did not notice the forks extended out onto the paved shoulder due to the fact that they were the same color as the road. She struck the forks and was thrown from her bicycle; a college student with cerebral palsy, was operating his wheelchair on the school campus within the confines of a cross walk when he was struck by a vehicle; an 84-year old man was hit on a bicycle, by a vehicle while in a crosswalk. Conley & Wirick obtained out-of-court settlements in the six figures in all of these claims.
Conley & Wirick has obtained many six-figure and seven-figure jury verdicts, and settlements for clients in product liability, medical malpractice and negligence cases.
The firm has also successfully represented a Maine shipbuilding business in a lawsuit involving partnership and contractual issues that threatened the existence of the company. This firm also represented this same business with a fire insurance claim that resulted in the recovery of many millions of coverage. Another business dispute that resulted in a favorable verdict at trial involved the defense of a construction materials firm over a breach of employment contract. In a recent case, we represented an international paper manufacturer in the failure by one of its vendors to pay several hundred thousands of dollars owed for products delivered. Without litigation, we were able to negotiate a settlement that resulted in full payment of the entire debt owed plus interest within 6 months. Most recently, this firm represented a homeowner whose house burned so extensively that a cause origin was not detectable. This firm has also successfully represented individuals in Estate and Probate litigation.
